How much does a birth chart reading cost?
A birth chart drawing can be generated free, while a live interpretation is priced by the individual reader. In a dated sample checked on September 5, 2026, publicly listed natal-reading offers ran from $111 for 90 minutes to $222 for 60 minutes among five U.S.-dollar examples. That is a snapshot, not a market average. Compare duration, preparation, recording, follow-up, cancellation terms, and the exact reading type before comparing prices.
Astrology is a reflective or entertainment practice, not a scientifically validated way to predict events. A reader should not replace licensed medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice. Price cannot change that boundary.

The same providers show why a single “per hour” figure is incomplete. Mercurius George lists $150 for 90 minutes for new clients, while Mo Lumen lists $200 for 90 minutes. The Magic Astrologer lists $180 for a 120-minute natal reading including parans and asteroids. Those work out to about $1.67, $2.22, and $1.50 per scheduled minute, respectively. A lower per-minute figure is not automatically better; preparation, method, interaction, and deliverables differ.
Mo Lumen also lists a $60, 30-minute quick check-in, but only after a natal reading. That is not a first-time mini reading. The Magic Astrologer lists a $40, 30-minute basic chart introduction and a $50, 45-minute focused introduction. Booking eligibility is part of the product.
Why the old “typical price” table was removed
The previous version called $75 to $250 for 60 to 90 minutes typical, put mini readings at $40 to $60 in one paragraph and $40 to $90 for 20 to 30 minutes in another, and placed established readers at $300 to $500 or more and $350 to $600 or more. Its table also assigned $0 to $30 to app or AI reports, $100 to $200 to standard readings, and $200 to $400 or more to sessions of 90 minutes or longer.
Those figures are retained here as the page's earlier orientation, but they were not tied to a defined sample, currency, country, date, or booking scope. They should not be presented as a current market estimate. The provider snapshot above is narrower but auditable: every amount has a named service, duration, and current source.
The same correction applies to the earlier $5 to $15 monthly app band. The arithmetic example remains valid: a hypothetical $10 per month is $120 for 12 months. But without dated plan pages and billing terms, it is only a budgeting example, not a claim about current app prices. The older $0 free-chart and $0 to $30 report anchors likewise cannot define every calculator or report product.
The chart drawing and the interpretation are different products
A natal chart drawing maps calculated positions for a birth date, time, and place. Astrodienst currently lists free chart drawing and Extended Chart Selection. Other sites and apps may offer free, paid, registration-gated, or subscription features.
A generated wheel is not the same deliverable as a human consultation. A paid reader may provide some combination of:
- advance chart preparation
- a live conversation
- a broad natal overview or one defined question
- transit, solar-return, relationship, or other techniques
- an audio or video recording
- a PDF chart or written synopsis
- limited follow-up
- rescheduling or cancellation rights
Do not assume every “birth chart reading” includes all of these. The Star Oracles page states recording and a PDF chart; the Mercurius George page states audio and video recordings within 24 hours. Mo Lumen's comparison separates natal, relationship, follow-up, solar-return, and monthly-transit products with different eligibility and prices.

Compare the total purchase, not the headline hour
Make one row for each offer:

For example, $150 / 90 = about $1.67 per minute. Use this only to normalize live duration. It does not price preparation, a recording, or a written summary. If one service supplies those and another does not, keep those differences visible rather than declaring a winner from division alone.
Packages require the same discipline. The older page mentioned three sessions across a year as a common bundle concept, but it did not cite a current offer. If a package contains three sessions, divide the total by three only after confirming each session's length, topic, expiry, refund rules, and whether all sessions are transferable or mandatory.
Match the reading type to the question
A general natal overview and a focused follow-up are not interchangeable.
- First chart overview: useful when you want the reader's complete framework and have not worked together before.
- Focused question: useful when the provider accepts new clients for a narrow topic; some quick sessions are returning-client-only.
- Relationship reading: may require two people's birth data and consent.
- Transit, solar-return, or electional reading: adds a time-specific technique and may require a natal consultation first.
- Recorded or written reading: can suit time-zone or accessibility needs, but confirm whether you can ask questions.
- Live reading: makes clarification possible, but compare recording, notes, and cancellation terms.
The earlier page said recorded video or PDF readings often cost less than live sessions. That may happen, but it is not a rule established by the current sample. Compare the actual listings.
Check privacy before sending birth details
Most chart calculations ask for a birth date, time, and place. That combination is personal data. Before entering it, check the site's privacy policy, account requirement, deletion controls, and whether the data will be stored or used for marketing.
For a relationship reading, do not submit another person's precise birth details without their permission. If a reader asks for unrelated identity documents, photographs, financial information, or account credentials, pause and ask why they are necessary. A payment processor should not need the password to any of your accounts.
Birth time affects the calculated Ascendant and houses, but the old page's claims that 15 minutes or 15 to 20 minutes will shift them are not universal thresholds. The rate varies with location, date, and chart geometry. Check a birth certificate or other reliable record when available, tell the reader when the time is approximate, and ask what parts of the proposed reading remain usable without a verified time.
Screen the provider before checkout
Price and follower count are weak quality filters. The older page contrasted polished websites with personal Instagram or marketplace listings; the booking channel itself establishes neither quality nor safety. Use evidence you can inspect:
- Read the provider's own description of method and limits.
- Watch or read a substantial public example, not only testimonials.
- Confirm the exact product, duration, and deliverables.
- Read cancellation, rescheduling, refund, and recording terms.
- Check whether the reader promises certainty about health, money, law, pregnancy, death, or another high-stakes outcome.
- Leave if fear is used to sell an urgent remedy, cleansing, curse removal, or a more expensive follow-up.
- Pay through a traceable checkout and retain the receipt and service description.
A price can reflect time, demand, preparation, branding, or specialization. It does not demonstrate predictive accuracy. “Celebrity-adjacent” is not an auditable qualification, and a long waitlist is not evidence that the advice is safe.
Decide whether a paid reading fits your goal
